Ever do your makeup and feel like something’s missing—but you can’t quite put your finger on it?
That was me… until I realized the magic was in what I couldn’t see. Literally.
You'll see how I balance bold lips with dark eye makeup, why certain lash shapes can make or break your look, and how I use my intuition (and a little makeup magic) to create harmony in the face.

How I Use My Natural "Vision Blur" to Elevate My Makeup Look
Sometimes not seeing everything clearly is actually a superpower.
I know that sounds wild—but stay with me.
The other day while I was doing my makeup here in Killeen, TX, I noticed something was a little off. I had this bold lip on, and my eye makeup was coming together—but when I looked in the mirror (without my glasses, of course), I realized something felt... unbalanced. My lips were poppin’, my outer corners were lifted, but my actual eyes? They were disappearing into the look. Lost in the sauce.
Why Not Wearing My Glasses Actually Helps My Eye Makeup Game
Here’s the thing—I literally cannot see beyond my hand without my glasses. But that blur? That’s my secret weapon. Because I’m not focused on the fine lines or every little detail, I start to see shapes, values, and color harmony more intuitively. I feel my way into balance.
And in this case, I could feel that my eyes were getting overshadowed. The whites of my eyes looked small. My outer corners were dark and dramatic (exactly how I like it), and the lips were already commanding attention. But the center of my eyes? It needed a little love. A little lift.
Choosing the Right Lash Shape Changed Everything
Here’s where intentional design comes in.
Most people might instinctively go for a cat-eye lash when they’ve smoked out the outer corners of their eyes. But that would’ve only added to the heaviness. My outer corners were already dark and full of mood—I didn’t need more of that.
What I needed was balance. Brightness. A little levitation in the center of the eye to draw the gaze back inward.
So instead of a cat-eye lash, I reached for a round lash style—the kind that’s longer in the middle and a little more open. Boom. That one change shifted everything.
The rounder lash lifted my eyes, made them feel brighter, and gave that perfect pop to balance out the boldness of the lip and the drama of the outer corner.
This Is More Than Makeup—It’s Energy Work
When I do makeup here in Central Texas—whether it’s for portraits, weddings, or confidence sessions—I'm not just enhancing features. I’m designing harmony. I’m amplifying the energy you want to carry. And what I’ve learned (especially with my blurred vision) is that sometimes our instincts tell us exactly what we need to feel whole, balanced, and magnetic.
Makeup isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. And sometimes, the most powerful adjustments are the ones you feel, not just the ones you see.
